MITAGED
gathers municipal officials and experts at "Local
Administrations and Additional Financial Means"
Organized
by MITAGED a meeting entitled "Local Administrations and
Additional Financial Means" was held at Ankara Esenboga Airport
Hotel with participation of municipal officials and experts.
The
meeting took place between June 28 and July 1 was the first leg of
educational seminars of MITAGED.
Ankara
Chamber of Commerce (ATO) Chairman Sinan Aygün and Prime Ministry
Undersecreteriat of Treasury Controllers Committee Head Hikmet Esen
were delivered the opening speeches of the meeting.
Esen
stated in his speech that municipalities face various difficulties
as they don't have enough information about international financing.
"I would like to thank to the MITAGED though their efforts. By
organizing such a meeting, the association became very helpful,"
Esen noted. He also added that the acceptance of the Treasury should
be sought in foreign credits.
Underlining
the importance of the meeting, ATO Chairman Aygün stated that
discussing problems with experts is a golden opportunity. "Due
to the conditions, our municipalities face some problems. Sharing
and discussing these problems with experts is a very important
opportunity. Therefore, we appreciate the efforts of MITAGED
officials," he said adding that local administrations should be
the supportive elements of economic activities.
İlham
Hüseynli, Socio- Strategic Researches and Analytical Investigations
Association (SSTAA) Head, stated that Azerbaijan faces the same
problems pointed out during the meeting. Hüseynli also said that
MITAGED may contribute to developments of local administrations in
Azerbaijan.
Taking
the floor, MITAGED head Müfit Şekerci underlined the importance of
domestic potential power in regional development. "Foreign
credit opportunities and national potential power should be merged
and organized. MITAGED aims to initialize Local Actors Project (YAS)
with the help of municipalities. We are ready to have contact and
establish cooperation with municipalities that are interested in
this project," he said.
Dealing
with foreign credits, Malatya Mayor Cemal Akın warned the audience
to the usage of credits taken from foreign institutions. "Various
municipalities are in trouble due to credits they took without
questioning," he noted.
During
the meeting İrfan Tokgöz, deputy head of Treasury Controller
Committee of Prime Ministry, presented detailed information about
the announcement regarding deduction and clearing in public bodies.
Upon
the invitation of Çubuk Mayor Adem Tuğluca, participants of the
meeting visited Çubuk neighborhood.
